Market Analysis Perspective: Worldwide Wireline Network Infrastructure, 2012

This IDC Market Analysis Perspective Presentation will provide the reader detailed information on the telecommunications infrastructure landscape, both drivers and inhibitors in this market.

IDC's wireline network infrastructure service analyzes the opportunities and challenges for network infrastructure suppliers selling to all communications service providers. This service focuses on the deployment of key network infrastructure products that provide enhanced IP services.

Wireline network infrastructure vendors face several serious external challenges ranging from the shift in overall telecom market capex spend from wireline to wireless solutions to potential new technology disruptions such as software defined networks (SDNs) to a slowdown in global economic growth in all regions. To address these challenges, most of the vendors profiled are devoting significant focus to professional services that can enable vendors to access operator opex as addressable market in addition to capital spending. As equipment continues to be increasingly commoditized, this trend is likely to continue as vendors look to value-added services on top of the equipment being sold as a way to drive margin expansion. The technologies and trends outlined in this market analysis perspective presentation show how vendors can capitalize on these themes.
